Know your ideal customer

Your ideal customer is someone who needs your services or products the most. They belong to a specific demographic and are the person who you target with your marketing strategies. To identify your ideal customer it’s helpful to complete a Customer Avatar which will help you pinpoint exactly who they are, what they need, where they’re located and the reason why they need your services/products. Essentially you will be solving one of their pain points.

Nail your brand voice

Brand voice is part of your brand identity. It’s the way you talk to your clients/customers and remains consistent across all your platforms. It reflects your business values and personality e.g. playful, intellectual, sophisticated, caring and so on. It’s important to create an emotional connection with your target market and differentiate your brand from your competitors.

Learn how to write killer content

Content is king when it comes to marketing your business. And customer engagement levels are much stronger when brands engage in authentic exchanges with their audience. You also need to make sure you include a clear and compelling CTA (Call-To-Action). From your website content, blog posts, social media posts, email marketing, paid ads etc it’s important to nail your content!

Match your content to your customer journey

There are essentially 3 important phases in the customer journey as follows:

  1. Awareness Phase – theprospect has symptoms, may realise they have a problem but isn’t looking for solutions (they might not even know that solutions exist).
  2. Consideration Phase – the prospect knows they have a problem and knows solutions exist, so they’re actively researching solutions.
  3. Buying Phase – the prospect is actively evaluating solutions to choose the best fit.

You need to create killer content for each of these phases to turn prospects into buyers and eventually brand ambassadors!

Create a website with a lead magnet (top of sales funnel) plus a blog

An SEO optimised website will help people discover your business. Add a kickass lead magnet (top of your sales funnel) to supercharge your email marketing. A simple discount code will do but I highly recommend you up your game and provide a mini ebook or other valuable content.  Adding a blog with regularly updated blog posts will help drive traffic to your website as well as establish you as a leader in your niche.

Get to grips with email marketing

It goes without saying that you need to get to grips with email marketing. Did you know that powerful email copy can boost your click-through rate by an incredible 400%? And email drip campaigns are the key to movement in your sales funnel. I use Mailchimp but there are other great email marketing platforms including Constant Contact and Convertkit.

Set up a CRM

You need to automate your sales process and a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) helps move your prospect down the sales funnel. I use Insightly CRM but there are plenty of other platforms including Freshworks and Monday.

Share killer content on social media to drive traffic to your blog/website

Sharing killer content on social media is vital to drive traffic to your blog/website. Make sure that it resonates with your target market and is shareworthy! 80% should be non sales!  Also, add a link to your lead magnet on your social media profiles to supercharge your email marketing.

Measure your KPIs

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are a group of critical measures that you should monitor to record the success of your marketing efforts. Zazzle Media has written a great blog post about how to measure your marketing:40 digital marketing KPIs.

Include Paid Ads

Paid Ads can help supercharge your sales funnel. In fact, they can have an ROI of 200%!  Depending on where your target market hangs out, you can use Facebook Ads, Google Ads or Linkedin Ads.
